Position Description:

The Project Estimator is an exciting and fast paced role, demanding knowledge in many areas of mechanical engineering through centrifugal pump design, manufacturing and installation / operation. The Project Estimator reviews the inspection results of aftermarket centrifugal pumps and generates the entire quotation package which includes the complete technical details and pricing for the repair, rework, upgrading, and re-assembly.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Interpret the visual, dimensional, geometrical, and non-destructive inspection of Flowserve pump components to produce detailed job work scopes for aftermarket equipment repair and upgrade

  • Generate step-by-step detailed manufacturing routers, including labour hours and outside vendor activity pricing, for repairing, reworking, upgrading, and assembling pump components, complying with industry standards, customer requirements, and Flowserve internal specifications

  • Specify and price all required components to be replaced; include details such as the manufacturing drawing, material specifications, and quality requirements

  • Develop basic manufacturing drawings and sketches in AutoCAD as required for parts replacement, repair, or rework to accompany manufacturing routers or parts replacement list

  • Develop “As-Found Reports” for customers, detailing the condition of the equipment and the required scope of work to repair to OEM specifications or upgrade to increase equipment reliability and achieve a higher mean time between failure; include potential root cause analyses in the report when required

  • Work with production to determine appropriate and acceptable job lead-times based on production loading

  • Develop the complete quotation document with price and lead-time using the internal Flowserve quotation system

  • Ensure all equipment upgrades and/or changes are documented as necessary in order to update the BOM’s and manufacturing drawings via the Flowserve Aftermarket Change Notice process

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical Engineering

  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a technologist diploma with 7+ years of experience in rotating equipment, manufacturing and production planning

  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, equivalent 10+ years experience in rotating equipment, manufacturing, and production planning (an equivalent combination of years of experience and industry knowledge is acceptable)

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles

  • Ability to interpret industry standards, machining drawings, and manufacturing procedures

  • Excellent organizational skills, able to establish priorities and complete a high volume of work to specific deadlines

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and paperwork

  • Clear and positive verbal and written communication skills to generate reports and work successfully face-to-face, on the phone, and by email

  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office products

  • Proven record of safety performance in a manufacturing plant

  • High energy level and a strong work ethic, with the ability to instill these characteristics in others

  • Ability to travel to the US.

  • Prior centrifugal pump experience is an asset

  • 3+ years of experience in rotating equipment is highly preferred

  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred
