Position Description:

This position is part of the company’s Global Litigation Group and is responsible for handling and/or managing a broad range of litigation matters and other disputes, primarily commercial and contract disputes, and products liability and personal injury matters.

  • Provide Flowserve business operations and corporate functions with legal advice and counsel on litigation risk analysis, pre-litigation dispute resolution, contractual and legal liability analysis, and a broad range of other litigation related counsel as necessary.

  • Actively manage a wide range of pre-litigation disputes and litigation matters worldwide both directly and through retained outside counsel.

  • Work closely with internal clients, outside counsel, company management, and other constituencies to the effectively and efficiently manage the company’s litigation and dispute caseload.

  • Provide legal advice on Environmental and Safety related issues.

  • Provides legal advice and support to the Company’s global contracts review team on litigation and liability/risk related contract provisions.

  • Support the company’s M&A due diligence activities in the area of litigation and dispute analysis as necessary.


  • Technical background and/or industrial work experience preferred.

  • Experience with environmental matters/law strongly preferred, including familiarity with environmental due diligence, and experience working with EPA or OSHA.

  • Familiarity with financial statements and second language skills (in addition to English) also a plus.

Position Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor

  • 4-7 years of legal experience handling litigation matters in an outside law firm setting or similar in-house experience.

  • Strong client focus and excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment with people from many countries and cultures, and at all levels of the organization.

  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills and to take on new responsibilities in subject matter areas where the candidate may not be expert, including environmental and M&A matters.

  • Highest level of integrity, discretion and professionalism.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including ability to communicate complex information in a succinct, easy-to-understand format.
