Position Requirements:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate the structural engineering activities in accordance with customer requirements, company`s objectives and policies.

  • Perform structural and vibration engineering analyses on pump or hydraulic turbine products in order to judge the adequacy of the design in relation to the applicable design requirements

  • Execute the impact of the design modification of components on the structural design.

  • Technical lead of R&D projects dedicated to modify and develop pump construction of which Etten-Leur is responsible Develop design tools for pump design modification and pump re-sizing.

  • Define critical dimensions of pump and Pressure Recovery Turbine (PRT) on components.

  • Analyse customer complaints and provide solutions in cooperation with the Claims Manager and the assigned project management and contribute to the reduction of cost of quality.

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on appropriate occasions with consideration of the established project work plan and project time schedule. Executes torsional and lateral analysis on large pumps and skids including reporting of the result. Automation of the design and analysis to improve the analysis time. Review structural design and customer specifications during order entry. · Implement contract variations after review and acceptance.

  • Manage structural design activities, such that optimum cost effectiveness is obtained between quality, design, and manufacturing, while ensuring that the engineering design standards are adhered to. · Review and evaluate customer specifications and supplier quotations related to technical acceptability and within the established project budget.

  • Efficient use of engineering resources to meet and/or improve the established project budget.

  • Reduce the number of Engineering Change Notes ( ECN’s) and ensure a fast close of NCR’s (N on-conformity Reports)

  • Support to the Customer Service Order Fulfillment, CSOA, Manufacturing and Supply Chain department.

  • Submittal of high quality contractual documentation within the planning in order to meet company goals for on time delivery, quality, cash flow, cost reduction and engineering efficiency.

  • Provide management with accurate and informative reports and evaluate the results of project assignments along with appropriate recommended course of action.

  • Conduct or participate in Root Cause Analysis in order to define corrective and preventive actions.

  • Participate in improvement project activities such as Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve the operational performance in accordance with customer specifications, company objectives/ policies, national and international standards and procedures.

  • Define areas for standardization. Share information, knowledge and experience with other business units within Flowserve.

Position Description:

The Structural Engineer designs, reviews and optimizes centrifugal pump construction in accordance with customer specifications, national and international standards and internal procedures. The activities of the incumbent are related to engineering activities on bare shaft pumps for quotation related engineering work and Request for Quotation (RFQ) consisting of customer specification review and the implementation into clear project definitions. The Structural Engineer plans the work with other engineering functions in order to meet the complete and on time issue of engineering documents for customer and internal use. The Structural engineer gives support related to the mechanical and rotor dynamic analysis in all phases of the project, including input for pump detailed design all in accordance with customer specifications and requirements. The Structural Engineer is the technical specialist on structural related details for the product lines of the LPO and the SPO. The incumbent reports to the Manager Product Engineering.


Master degree in Engineer Structural Analysis.

Knowledge of complex pump design.

Knowledge of hydraulic drawings.

Broad knowledge of engineering.

Fluent in the English and Dutch language.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Extended knowledge of Microsoft office programs, Autocad, 3D design packages (Creo, Inventor), Finite element analysis packages (ANSYS) and ERP systems.
