The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and leading a team of engineers and drafters to serve as the Lead Product Operations (LPO) of products being manufactured and sold at Flowserve Cookeville Operations. Supporting the design and manufacture of Atomac, Durco, Worcester and McCanna valves and actuators. The person will also manage the Secondary Product Operations (SPO)engineering role for the Argus and Atomac product lines.
The Engineering Manager reports directly to the Director Engineering FCO and is a matrix report to the site Director Plant Manager. This manager must have excellent communication skills to interface internally with all departments (project management, customer service, production, GTEC team, etc.) and with the FCO Product Management and Engineering organizations. Direct involvement with end users will be necessary to develop strong customer relationships. The Manager must possess proven leadership capability and a strong technical background in mechanics, controls, hydraulics, materials, and FEA.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for retaining and attracting top talent, support training and development of engineers, and manage the performance of the teams. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for working with the Global Technical Engineering Center (GTEC) management team to achieve the required sites activities. Work with the Global Engineering team on enterprise solutions to drive towards and implement unified processes and best practices for engineering design, process efficiency, and engineering data control and access to ensure the Cookeville and Ahaus Engineering departments are able to support their respective product lines fully.
Manage and drive continual improvement of the Engineering team. Monitor key performance indicators and establish action plans to maintain or improve performance and be a part of a global organization.
Utilizes experience and knowledge of valves, actuation, and controls to manage the timely execution of development initiatives and Cookeville production projects.
Oversee the development and training of engineers/drafters and foster an open learning environment. Ensure the engineering team is well equipped with SMEs for all aspects of product design including mechanical, electrical, digital, and industrial network protocol design.
Maintain and grow the work with the MM Nagar, and GTEC team. Build and develop the relationships with GTEC and MM Nagar. Meet the forecasted levels of work that is given to GTEC and MM Nagar to meet utilization goals each month.
Support the machine shop, production, supply chain, quality, and assembly and test benches in the operations.
Manage R&D projects for new products or improvements to existing products (Durco, Worcester & Argus).
Develop strong internal and external customer support through technology focus and adopt the latest in new technology and research when applicable.
Make effective use of capacity planning tools (RCCP and Engineering OTD) and business forecasts to identify and address current and anticipated gaps in the engineering capacity for all projects. Balance the efforts to optimize the usage of low-cost engineering resources as appropriate to augment engineering capacity.
Manage root cause analysis of equipment failures and technical customer issues.
Provide development and technical assistance to Secondary Product Operations (SPO).
Continually develop and implement improvements within the team to improve operational performance aligned with corporate objectives and Customer requirements. Improve working processes, procedures, and define possible areas for standardization.
Participate in improvement project activities such as Lean manufacturing, lean practitioner, and other tools; to continually improve the operational performance and cost position for the Cookeville and Ahaus teams and product lines.
Develop and implement personnel development plans including mid- and year-end Performance Management Process, career profiles, and succession planning for all personnel. Identify training needs and work to make training available to staff.
Responsible for attracting, identifying, developing and retaining talent, including all facets of talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and employee learning & development.
Ensure products are safe and compliant with the appropriate legal requirements (e.g., FM, CSA, ATEX, PED, API, Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX, etc.) Ensure proper due diligence in processes and documentation to support that compliance.
Support the Repair Shop Black Tie program by planning, generating and approving contracts as well as training schedules, nationally and internationally.
Mechanical Engineering degree plus valve, actuation, control and equipment design, manufacturing and assembly experience.
Technical team management experience (5+ years, preferred).
Must be self-starting and have motivational skills and a high sense of urgency to plan and execute to production and development schedules.
Interpersonal skills are critical for excellent communication with internal and external customers.
Ability to produce professional engineering reports and presentations. They must also be able to deliver these presentations to management teams, industry committees, employees and customers.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English.
Ability to travel approximately 10-15% of the time.
